Tombeau Bay Beach also known as Le Goulet is located near the village of Tombeau Bay, in the west part of Mauritius. Baie du Tombeau translates to last resting place and is called so because Dutch admiral Pieter Both and his crew are supposed to have been buried here after their shipwreck at this beach.
The charm of this beach lies in its 400 meters of golden yellow, fine sand and the extremely shady shore-line. There are magnificent views across the sea. This Mauritius beach has a remote feel with open spaces, and quiet tropical forest surrounding it. The sea is a little rougher here than at other beaches and the shore drops quickly and suddenly. An unofficial naturist beach Baie du Tombeau is completely empty on some days.
