The recreation area the Maarsseveense Plassen lies north of the city of Utrecht and consists of the Grote Plas and Kleine Plas. Both originated from sand extraction in the sixties.
There are extensive recreational facilities and on summer days the recreation center attracts thousands of visitors. There is sunbathing with much shelter from trees. The area is only accessible to naturists. The stay is of course exclusively undressed, for those who wish to wear clothes can do so on the textile area opposite.
May to mid-September the Strandbad is open daily from 9 am to 6 pm. Entrance fees must be paid for the Strandbad. The quality of the bathing water is good and the water is regularly checked during the summer. Qualified bath staff supervises the swimmers.
A shallow part of the swimming pool has been set up for children. The Naturist Association Maarsseveense Plassen is committed to maintaining naturism on the lake, maintaining the nudist beach and expanding and improving the facilities.
