Being just north of Lowestoft, which is Britain's most easterly point means it can get a little breezy here. The beach itself is a mix of coarse sand and shingle which is divided up by wooden groins. To the rear of the beach is a large grassy area separated from the beach by a concrete walkway. Above is a small holiday caravan park which overlooks
the beach, there may be some noise from nearby which may disturb.
It has been reported that the beach is good for Surfing and Windsurfing, but this could be challenged as water drops off and the tide can run at quite a pace and swimming some states of the tide can only be achieved in one direction.
Nearly closed as a naturist beach in 2009, however it is now open and one can be unclothed on all beaches within the Waveney District UK without being in
breach of the laws so long as you are just sunbathing and walking. It can be very windy.
