Agia Fotia is located 7km east of Sitia and 76km east of Agios Nikolaos, on the road to Vai in Crete. It was awarded the Blue Flag in 2006. The village is named after the church of Agia Fotini and the beach of the same name has small pebbles and calm, clear waters. Surrounded by very high mountains this beach is secluded and picturesque.
Around it are many tall pines, tamarisks and olive trees where you can find shade. Nudism is practiced with some hesitance (especially in high season) east of the taverna and the car park. Among the many rocky outcrops you can easily find a sandy hiding-place for yourself if you want, it is prone to north winds and you’ll rarely find it peaceful. There is a cave located right on the beach where traces of ancient habitation have been found.
