Playa Mujeres - Papagayo Beaches

Destination

Playa de las Mujeres, is part of the Natural Park Ajaches there are a series of wild coves known as Papagayo beaches which consist of seven coves which the park presumes natural: PapagayoPuerto MuelasCaleta del CongrioPlaya de la CeraPlaya del PozoPlaya Mujeres and San Martial. All of the beaches are a mix of naturist and textile and are connected by paths through the dunes and hills. One pays a small entrance fee for the park.

Originally known as Pasito Bea, and often referred to as Playa de las Mujeres by south Gran Canaria locals. The nickname comes from the pre-tourism era when the land behind the beach was all tomato plantations and Pasito Bea beach was the traditional bathing spot for the women who worked in the fields.

Playa de las Mujeres, a somewhat remote beach that receives little attention. 100-metres of fine sand which varies between golden and volcanic depending on the tides and the light, but the water here is almost always clear and a gorgeous turquoise colour, which is framed by rocky hills. Some of these rocks can also be found in the water at the edges of the beach.

Nudism is fine, it's also popular with locals some of whom keep their swimming costumes on. The west end of the beach is the nudist corner.
