Playa Francesa

Destination

Playa de Francesa is in fact three beaches situated around a little cove which is tucked away on the south western corner of the island, it is relatively protected from the Atlantic breakers on the other side of the island, making it great for swimming and snorkeling but aqua shoes are recommended as it can be a little rough under foot at certain stages of the tide.

A golden sandy beach, the water shelves gently. Naturism is accepted here, but one of the big catamarans sails round from Caleta harbour daily, bringing 50 or more daytrippers round to the beach for a quick swim or sunbathe - atr around 1 and 3,30 but once they've gone it's peaceful and quiet again and you'll probably have the beach to yourself along with only another dozen or so people who like you are staying on the island and have walked over from Caleta. If it really gets crowded, you can also walk another half a mile or so to the next delightful beach, at the foot of the Montana Amarilla.

There are no facilities at the beach, not even shade, so take everything that you are likely to need with you.
