  • Description : Located in the Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park.Honokohau Harbor Beach has a section of beach at the northern end of the trail which is popular for nude bathing and is popular with gays. There is a history of authorities fining folks for nudity, so use caution.

    Upon this beach you will see turtles on the shore and swimming in the shallow water around the fish trap. You’re required to keep twenty feet away from the sea turtles, but it’s easy to keep a respectful distance as you walk the beach. Be sure to keep on eye out on the ocean, there are whales and dolphins that will also frequent the area.

    Beach shoes are advisable as there are lots of broken shells & pieces of coral.

  • Directions To reach Honokohau Harbor Beach;Take Highway 19 north from Kona. Turn left between Mile Markers #97 and #98. There are two routes to get to the beach.If you go to the park’s official visitor’s center, a ranger will point you to 30-minute path that leads across a lava field to the beach where the sea turtles hang out, but if you find yourself roasting under the sun, drive a half mile south to the marina and access the beach from the park’s other entrance. The walk from the marina parking lot is a really easy five minute walk, mostly shaded.
