  • Description : Playa de Sotavento in Fuerteventura boasts of a 9km long virgin beach with soft desert sand and amazing crystal clear waters. This is a mixed beach for textiles and naturists. Naturists tend to head for the southern end of the beach.

    This is a windy beach with no shelter and is popular among'st Kitesurfers. Playa de Sotavento is made up of five beaches, La Barca, Risco del Paso, Mirador, Malnombre and Los Canarios. You can walk for miles over this very long stretch of soft sand and do not need to wait for low tide.

    There is a lighthouse down on one end which makes a good destination if you are walking or jogging. Playa de Sotavento, has in fact been rated as one of the best on the island of Fuerteventura. (By FUERTEVENTURA TOURISM). The water is clear so you may like to bring a snorkel. The lagoons during low tide are great for smaller kids.

    Many visitors to the island are looking for a place to feed the famous squirrels of Fuerteventura, down by the the parking area of this beach you will find many squirrels which will be delighted if you give them some fruit or almonds!
