Africa & Asia
Africa - Nudity is classed as indecent exposure in Africa. Of the 54 countries located in Africa, we have two countries listed where nudity is practised unofficially, with five listings in South Africa; Sandy Bay, the Umhlanga Lagoon and Mpenjati beach are beaches that have a nudist status of Tolerated / Clothing Optional. There are also several resorts that cater to nudists.
Asia - The nudist movement is not very strong in Asia, we have sourced 33 destinations to visit, with 11 listings within in Israel.
Do you know any locations in Asia frequented by naturists that aren't listed yet? Share your knowledge via the New Beach Destination tab. Some of the countries in Asia not yet represented in this beach directory include:
Malaysia - From a cultural and religious perspective, nude sunbathing and skinny-dipping in Malaysia should be avoided as a general rule unless it’s on private property and/or in a place secluded from the general public. Punishment is stated as a maximum jail term of three months, or an unspecified fine.
South Korea - Despite its rapid modernisation, it remains a largely conservative country.
Designated places such as a Korean spa or jjimjilbang is the best place, to head for if you are seeking nudity. Nude communal bathing is normal, although nudity is not permitted in unisex areas. After showering you head to the soaking pools bringing with you a just a small towel to dry off.
If you are planning a trip to Seoul, people deemed to be "overexposed" in public will be subject to a fine of 50,000 KRW (US$45).
The government of Jeju Province has reviewed the opening of its first nude beaches – Jungmun Beach and Hamdeok Beach in Jeju Island to boost tourists.
The Philippines - is a conservative country and public nudity is not officially tolerated. In fact, public nudity is an illegal act.
Although there are no official public nude beaches there is a vast coastline with nearly 8,000 islands. Upon some of these beautiful unspoilt beaches there are places which would be suitable for the private practice of naturism, but please be careful of running afoul of the law.
Indonesia - is the most populous country with a Muslim majority in the world. You will not find any legal nudist/naturist beaches here. In fact, there is a sentence of up to 12 years in jail for any sexually suggestive display or performance. There are nooks and crannies if you want to take the risk, however, a safer option to consider is to visit one of their naturist resorts.

In 2003 there were plans to make this beach an official naturist beach but the plans never came to anything. A stunning, desolate and beautiful beach occasionally frequented by naturists. There is soft golden sand until you reach the sea, below the water is rocks so beach shoes are advised.

It is a major nature reserve that goes on for about 20 kilometres. The beach itself has essentially two parts, one big open beach which can become quite windy, but you can enjoy watching the surfers! and another area with big boulders provides shelter.Served by Atlantic Ocean the water can be cold. Baie du Tombeau translates to last resting place and is called so because Dutch admiral Pieter Both and his crew are supposed to have been buried here after their shipwreck at this beach. The charm of this beach lies in its 400 meters of golden yellow, fine sand and the extremely shady shore-line. There are magnificent views across the sea. This Mauritius beach has a remote feel with open spaces, and quiet tropical forest surrounding it. The sea is a little rougher here than at other beaches and the shore drops quickly and suddenly. An unofficial naturist beach Baie du Tombeau is completely empty on some days. less

Arambol first emerged in the 1960s as a hippie beach. Many still come to enjoy its drum circle, where people play drums and people gather to dance, it has a distinct bohemian feel which is not really found in other areas. It is also popular for its ‘local mud’ baths; visitors enjoy applying onto their nude bodies. The main beach is gently curved and safe for swimming but often crowded. For a quieter beach scene head south towards Mandrem, where you are more than likely to encounter some foreign naturists. less

It is an ideal destination for travelers especially who love adventure. There is also the opportunity to bath nude within these lakes. There are 358 species of birds and rare animals and plants. The trails are very beautiful where you will encounter forests and rivers, some lovely (but cold) swimming holes, and fantastic views from the top. The path leading down to the 5 lakes (Ngu Ho) is steep & difficult but there are good ropes in place, so bring some decent shoes & be prepared to get wet feet. Do Quyen waterfall is compared as a pretty oversleeping fairy. The tourists who love rivers, streams, rapids, should not miss a visit to the Do Quyen Waterfall. It is about 300m high, flowing day and night along the rocky slopes. less
