Dundowran is a locality in the Hervey Bay hinterland. At Dundowran is a long stretch of protected beach that is almost deserted. At low tide, the water can be several hundred metres from the shore, and has a bounty of treasures to discover; Stingray holes, soldier crabs, tiny fish etc. When the tide is high there are waves to swim in, so it’s a very safe area for small children. It’s common for early morning walkers to share the beach with Kangaroos who enjoy the quiet bay. Utterly peaceful, people fishing, nude sunbathing (who occupy an area about 1.5 kilometers east of where the parking area is) and walking dogs or no one for miles. A relatively unknown bay to non-locals. less
