Waikawau Bay Beach is a long sandy beach, located near the northern tip of the Coromandel Peninsula. Forty km north east of Coromandel Town.Waikawau Bay is a great place to swim, fish, walk, surf, kayak or just relax.
Although not officially a naturist beach “discrete” nudity is well accepted beyond the area bordering the camp. It is highly unlikely you will anyone else. Access to the beach is through the DOC camp ground.
The beach is not as affected by the tides unlike the western side of the peninsula. Surrounded by native bush. There are amazing rock formations, with carvings made into the Waikawau cliffs and many flat rocks to use as seats and tables to enjoy a picnic. There is also a waterfall at Waikawau to the north of the tunnel to enjoy.
