Nelson's unofficial nude beach, Red Sands, is located near Bealby Point, and is a friendly, low-key spot.The water is very clear and refreshing (cool!), good for snorkeling. The beach is approx has a length of 0.22 kilometres in length. There is another beach used by nudists called Painted Rock which can be found by continuing past Red Sands to the end of the road. Walk along the side of the CPR tracks for about half a km.
