South Yuba River is situated between Marysville and Grass Valley, northeast of Sacremento. The closest town is Nevada City or Grass Valley. There are many swimming holes in the branches of the Yuba River, there is the main beach area then other small sandy areas spread out of both sides of the river.
Easy entry access, plenty of shallows for wading as well as deep areas for jumping off rocks. Recommended to bring old shoes for wading across the river in low water to look for other clothing-optional mini-beaches. The area where nudity begins is at the end of the Buttermilk Bend Trail that is marked by a "Trail End" sign. During the week, you'll most likely have this area all to yourself.
