Brittas Bay is a popular camping and caravanning resort. The main beach is textile.
The naturist beach, which is long and sandy, is south of the main beach and is considered to be one of the best on the east coast. A popular spot with day trippers from Dublin it can get rather busy here during the peak season.
The sea can be choppy with undercurrents so care is needed while swimming. The dunes are a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and are home to various wildlife including some rare species of coastal plant life.
Whilst you may see Brittas Beach described as a naturist beach, this is in fact Sallymount, around the headland to the south. The beach has had many reports regarding inappropriate behaviour. Keep this in mind if visiting with families.
