Susak (often referred to as Sandy Island) is a small island (only 4 km/2) just west from island Losinj. Surrounded with a beautiful sandy rocky beaches. The island, unique in the whole of the Mediterranean, is a geo-morphological phenomenon because it is made only from sand.
Susak has two sides: a north east shielded side which is facing Mali Lošinj, and the south west side which is exposed to open see (it’s facing Italy). Apart from their orientation, both sides differ in the shape of the coastline, depth of the water and accessibility. Most of the places are free for naturists.
It takes a little over three hours to tour the island. It is covered with wine yards and it is famous for its wines.
