It is said that one of the best beaches near Amsterdam is Wijk aan Zee.The coastal line of the Netherlands is comprised of one big finely grained white sandy beach, stretching hundreds of kilometers from the Wadden Islands in the North al the way down to Zeeland in the South. Behind the beaches lie beautiful sand dunes, needed to protect against floods. A paradise for surfers and kite surfers.

Also for naturists as there is a nudist beach located between post 50.25 and 49.50. This area is not signposted on the beach with signs. The area is indicated on the information boards at the beach entrances. There are no facilities on the nudist beach, however there are several beach pavilions at the Relweg beach entrances.It is the only beach easily reachable by public transport, it is popular among Amsterdam inhabitants.
