Porthkidney is a north-facing sandy beach about 600m long on the western side of the Hayle estuary. Reasonably sheltered at the western end and usually quiet. At low tide Carbis Bay Beach is accessible by walking around the point. The river is not suitable for swimming and the currents at this end of the beach can be dangerous.

Naturists tend to stick to 'secluded enclaves' near the sand dunes and may chose to be costumed when venturing further onto the beach and for swimming - but we would like to see naturists behaving comfortably with their life choice and at ease in this beach environment. This beach is ideal when temperatures in Cornwall's unpredictable summer can hover around 15 to 17 degrees or on windy days when other local nude beaches can become uncomfortable due to lack of shelter from the breeze. This beach offers a far nicer and much less strenuous experience than Perranporth dunes.
