Aberlady Bay is in East Lothian, and is situated between Aberlady and Gullane.It was declared Britains first nature reserve, in 1952 and is especially renowned as a bird-watching venue. When you get to the beach turn right towards the headland, you will find the unofficial naturist area usually in the second half of the beach.

It is a fairly flat remote sandy beach with dunes. The waters are fairly calm, the beach is large when the tide is out. Visitors are asked to keep to the good quality paths that cross the reserve to avoid disturbing the birds and other wildlife. If you arrive on the beach via the main path at low tide, you will just be able to make out to your left, to the south, two the remains of two submarines lying in the sand with the bolder outline of what turns out to be a concrete block between them. The midget submarines are XT-Craft, training versions of the X-Craft that attacked the Tirpiz in 1942.
