Playa de Maspalomas is located in the south of Gran Canaria, right in the middle of one of the most visited coastlines in Europe. Playa del Inglés is mainly popular with families and younger visitors, whereas the chic hotels and classy lounges and bars in the west of Playa de Maspalomas tend to attract a more upmarket crowd.
Maspalomas has its own palm tree oasis, lagoon and sand dune system. It's basically a miniature desert by the sea rather than a beach. It even has camels (which you can ride) but unlike a desert, there are convenient snack stands, comfy sun loungers and trained lifeguards. With almost three kilometers of soft golden sand and little waves along with a multitude of hotel facilities and apartments; Maspalomas is a true paradise for beach and fun lovers, for families with children as well as naturist sun worshippers!
Divided into four areas: the first perfect for families and kids, the second and the fourth are nudist zones and the third is popular with the gay community. The beach has solitary and isolated stretches, where you can practice nudism. From Faro de Maspalomas to Playa del Inglés, the nudist area begins between beach stalls 3 and 4. From Playa del Ingles to Maspalomas lighthouse, the nudist area begins between 5 and 6. Surfers have their place in the curve which links Maspalomas with Playa del Inglés.
There are not many shaded areas, so it’s a good idea to hire a sunshade so you can get out of the sun for a while. So much to offer; one minute you are in the well-kept hotel complex, the next you are in the middle of the desert, surrounded only by the warm winds. It is easy to get lost in its huge, mile-long dunes.
