A resort near me is very biased against males in general. I found out they lost AANR affiliation due to their policies for membership, but not sure exactly what. I had brought up this concern before and was told AANR couldn't limit their affiliated clubs' rules on admittance and membership. This was after I explained the biases toward men (both single and married). This didn't sit right with me.
AANR's own principles state that they accept anyone who agree with their philosophies, regardless of gender and marital status. Clearly that doesn't apply to their affiliated clubs due to the answer I got.
To give an idea of how messed up their memberships for men were, there are a few restrictions and financial burdens. To start with, if a man (single/alone) were to visit, they would have to call a week in advance and "reserve" a spot due to a quota on men. Let's say a spot was reserved and it rained that day. Sorry, just out of luck and have to reschedule another week in advance. Even if a member of said resort, you'd have access throughout the week, but had to call ahead to visit on weekend for quota.
Membership for a male is $800 for 6 (yes, SIX) months or $600 for 90 consecutive days. Most resorts are only going to run about $600-$700 for an entire year.
It is simply wrong. Single policy, it it is needed at all, should apply to both genders. Men should also not be financially penalised. And what in the world is that suggesting anyway, we think you are up to no good, but if you pay us a lot more we will allow you to join? That is sort of like saying that they will accept you despite being a man if you are willing to pay for the privilege. If they really feel men cannot be trusted then no amount of money should be enough. Or is it something else entirely. Supply and demand. We have 10 single male places but have 100 single males wanting them, then we can take advantage and charge them what ever we like knowing that 10 out of that 1000 will be able to afford it and the rest can get lost either way.
This is why we need universal global policies on certain rules and ideas and that all clubs if they wish to be connected to the world of naturism should be expected to follow them. Not rules that dictate fees charged, because each club has different costs and financial commitment but rules that stop men being charged more than women. Naturism isn't a night club and so shouldn't have night club attitudes: Let the pretty girls in free and charge the lecherous men who want to follow!
We are waiting for SomeBody, NoBody, and AnyBody events to start, we will probably be accepted at those, whereas, because we are a family and parents older than 30, the event staged for “Everybody” actually excluded us, because we were not hip or trendy enough. Maybe that was why it only attracted 28 people, and from what we have heard, there was far less than that a few weeks before hand, and some creative persuasion was applied to YBN members to attend, just to scrape it up to 28. Thousands of pounds wasted for what exactly, the event was a complete failure, at least NKD and Nudefest attracted decent numbers, so why exactly will EveryBody be taking place again if no one from the mainstream textile world was encouraged to attend?
We think we have been pretty clear in what we see as pay per view naturism, we think it is not a good or positive way forward, as it does not attract naturists, it attracts exhibitionists and trolls or creeps. We see it as being in the same league as peep shows or Pornhub, because the odds of naturists paying to see what they see at the club each week or on a site like ANW is very slim. The textiles that pay for to see this sort of paid for imagery, are the kinds of textiles we do not want in naturism, as they see everything as “Sexual.”
As we have already said, quotas do not work, if they did, why would we need women’s only events? No one is addressing the fact that quotas were brought in to attract more women to camps, and they have been in place a long time, and yet, naturism still lacks women, so these quotas are not worth the paper they are written on, and men have been excluded for absolutely no reason at all. We have seen how petty clubs can be recently, so one must pose the question, is it the clubs themselves that are failing to attract women? We can at this point only answer yes, and as we have stated constantly, it is because clubs lack more encouragement of families.
A woman with children will not go alone and leave her kids, especially to an adult only event. Another thing that does not help naturism, is most clubs only advertise with the national organisation or H&E, so how exactly does that attract new customers or members from the textile world? If we are not conversing with the public and showing them naturism is safe, how will we ever bring new people in? It appears advertising is equally as segregated as the rest of naturism.
I remember the 'Everybody ' thing being advertised . I knew that I wasnt part of the target group but was interested to see how it went. 28 people eh ? Its hardly surprising I dont remember seeing a post event write up.
@Steve ANW . The event I was reffering to was one of the well known fundraising walks for a national charity.
Thanks Matt, Anna and I have talked about the unfairness of this in the past. These charity events, walks and skinny dips. How can they decide they should be adult only. What a great opportunity to show the virtue of naturism and get families involved, and raise awareness of these charities to the children. We read of one charity walk that was adult only we asked one of the organisers why and they said the charity had insisted. The charity is controlling who can raise money for them, how dare they! If a charity doesn't like it, then the charity can go with their begging cup to other people, I am sutre naturism can find some charities that recognise that they should not feed the hand that donates to them. Similarly with venues, they are getting paid, they should not have the right to dictate that families are not welcome to swimming pools and other such places that they normally allow children to visit. As for other events that take place in public spaces like beaches who controls these being adult only? The organisers need to stand proud for naturism and protect naturism. No matter what excuse is used, there is no genuine excuse to be used. What if these charities or venues next start demanding that no oaps are allowed, or no single men, or that women should be segregated, surely naturism wouldn't stand for this? Oh wait a minute....
