When I log in there's frequently a red dot above the updates icon. Right now it has a number "4" showing. But if I click on the icon, it says there are no updates for me.
Recently there's been the same thing happening but no new updates were appearing so I deleted all my viewed updates. The updates feed should be empty unless there's rally a new update.
Also when I click on the icon and after showing no new updates, it will clear, but the red 4 reappears in a matter of 5 to 10 seconds.
Any advice on how to either receive the updates or stop the false notifications?
It may be that your computer is remembering this number and reverting back to it. Could you try clearing your cookies and see if that gets rid of it. We have had this effect members in several ways over the years, including some members who did not even know aspects of the site existed because their device was not showing updated menus.
In the meantime I have sent this to a developer to look at, it isn't a problem we are seeing ourselves, but if others are... Always feel free to direct message me or Steve with such information , then we can be sure to see it and maybe ask direct questions. It s always good to know what search engine people are using firefox, google etc and what sort of device - laptop, computer, mobile....as quite often an issue can be connected to certain people due to these things which is why they can be missed by us and not mentioned by others.
While it’s possible, I usually have the browser set to purge all cookies. I was having a few issues with things like the browser remembering the currency I’d set so it’s possible I gave the ANW to store all cookies instead of just session cookies. I’ll have a look and return a message tomorrow.
I’m on my iPad now so it’s behaving a little differently to the desktop which is running Xubuntu and Firefox. I use DuckDuck Go on my iPad.
