I guess what I'm asking is. How did it happen with your parents / siblings of the extended family when they found out? For me I'm anxious because I have a kid now, so it will somehow come out I assume. 

Also for my child, we are nude friendly, however, my wife is not nude and doesn't feel comfortable walking this way (though she has no problem , at least currently taking a shower with our 4.5 year old or occasinally sleeping nakes with her in bed. 

@a.b.y.a. C You are saying nothing major happened over the years, but you don't really know if your kids said something or not. Do you know if your extended family knows about your family habits? 

@Gojoyride I don't think our extended family knows but my mother definitely knows... She lives with us! 

That story goes that my mom probably knows that I have the nudist tendency because I liked to strip off every now and then when I was a kid. Those were the days when seeing naked kids boys wasn't a big deal. Even my cousins and I ran around naked after showers when I slept over at their place.  Anyway, I  grew up and started working and with my dad passed, my mom and I lived together.  Usually when she's out I would be naked at home. One night she was supposed to dine out with friends but returned early. She was a little shocked seeing me naked but with me usually wearing just a pair of boxers at home in the summer, it wasn't really that much of a difference. She did ask "Was it that hot?" and I said "It was."  At that point I decided not to dash for my boxers as there's really no point.  She didn't comment further and from then I started my naturist days at home.

My brother in law and his wife also know that our kids sleep in the nude. They visited us and stayed over a week back when the boys were quite young.  Even though we spent our day clothed, at night they still intuitively got naked for bed.  They were a little shocked and we just casually mentioned that "Yeap, less to wash when they wet their beds and that's also how they liked it."  They didn't say anything much else, although a few years later they joking asked us when we were talking about hot summers without air conditioning, whether the boys were still sleeping without clothes and we said "Yes, that's how they still like it!"

I would all in all say, with kids the topic of nudity actually would pass much more casually, and (hate to say this and wish it to be not true) it's even easier when the kids are boys.

What I gathered over the years is that we'll have to let it be.  When the kids were young, both of us didn't think much of kids seeing us nude and that evolved into a family norm. Just like many other norms people develop within their families that others may find odd or even repulsive. The fact is also that people tend to mind their own business in general and keep their comments to themselves. That's totally fine for us!

I actually have no idea who knows and who doesn't.  We certainly haven't made any effort to hide it.  Mostly I think as people have found out they haven't actually been surprised, I know I have a number of work collegues who know and haven't reacted badly and to a large degree I think they almost expected it. Now that be more of a statement about me than about the naturism.  Or conceiveably I'm so insensitive that I didn'tt notice a negative reaction.  Certainly no one has really made any comments I am aware of.  One person did say thank you for choosing not to do this in the office but I think that has been it.

As I've said previously we just carry on with the normal life activities, we just do it naked.  So playing with grandkids etc is just the same as it would be clothed.  As regards the kids seeing us nude, they have done that since they were born and therefore think nothing of it. That said I'm not sure how I would actually manage to carry on a life and not have them see us naked. I guess if we slept dressed, always locked bathroom doors, changed behind locked doors and hid under towels at the beach it may be possible.  But in my opinion that's NOT a life is a prison.  LOL

it is a good way to raise kids and certainly how i'd have raised mine if i'd had any.

 

I think society is really damaging children by vilifying and criminalising their image thinking it protects them from abuse when in fact it puts them in more danger by shaming them into silence where abuse can occur.

My partner passed away 8 years ago this December. 
We never had kids...but for me bringing up kids in a naturist environment is a good thing as they won't be ashamed of their bodies and looks.
There are so many young people now Male and female who have eating disorders due to media perception of how a person showed look.
We need to encourage kids to feel comfortable with who and what they are, to grow into well rounded adults and be happy with who there are and what they look like.
