It is an outdoor, fresh air, lifestyle than encourages activity and vitamin D. It gets us away from the TV and the computer (well sometimes) and into the sea, or on hikes, or playing sport. So that is good for the body. Not sitting around in bacteria soaked clothes and instead allowing your skin to properly breathe.
It is mostly social and naturists are mostly friendly so that is good for the soul. Meeting nice, trustworthy people has a positive effect on your outlook and the way you feel about the world.
It encourages healthy body awareness and self-confidence so that is good for the mind.
Fighting away negatives ideas about the body, shame, self loathing and perversion and embracing nature and honest relationships with yourself and others.
Didn't Ebenezer Scrooge's nephew say this about naturism 'Though it has never put a scrap of gold or silver in my pocket, I believe it has done me good, and will do me good; and I say, God bless it! ' If he didn't he should have done!

Although I have had naturist experiences for over 20 years, I was sort of a lapsed naturist. Not being on a holiday with naturist facilities and having a garden that was not naturist friendly did not help.
A few years back, I started to suffer from eczema. Started on my hands and legs and then covered areas of my body. It became quite uncomfortable. Despite numerous tests and hospital visits, there was no remedy. Itching all over it began to get me down. Bedsheets and clothes covered in blood stains.
The garden grew up so parts of the garden are no longer overlooked. The summer weather started so the shorts came out. The legs began to clear up. My wife noticed the changes. Off with the rest of the clothing and I was outside in the sun, the rest of the eczema began to clear up. On a return visit to the skin consultant, wearing my shorts, he noticed that the problem had cleared up. He checked the rest of me and it was all clear.
Asking me what I had done, I replied that I had stopped wearing clothes around the house and had been spending more time outside in the garden .... naked.
Totally discharging me from the clinic, he turned to his assistant "Maybe we should get more people going naked. Outdoors if possible."
So in respose to "Is Naturism Good for Your Health?" in my case .... yes.

That is a great story Pete - and although it makes sense - it is great to hear that something that sounds like it should work actually did. It would be great if more doctors encouraged eczema sufferers to do this. I wonder if there has been any research into nakedness and sunny fresh air helping the condition - and it may not just be the sun and the skin being able to breathe. The fabrics and the chemical used to wash them may also aggravate the condition.

With people now going organic and environmentally conscious just about everything, it must be just a matter of time that they recognize the impact clothing have on our bodies and our minds, not to say on the overall environment. As opposed to creating arguments for naturism, I think we should just outright point out the impact of the fashion industry on the planet and the human race, and how absurd we are to continue to support its growth as opposed to its demise.
