When we were writing our contribution for the other topic "Are naturist websites that don't show breasts and genitals hurt?" We also thought that some sites that published naturist resorts, camps and places bothered us so much because of the excessive display of perfect female and male bodies.

It is true that beauty sells, but what do they want to sell?
Naturism is happiness, not beauty ... it's not the same thing!

In our opinion, naturism is the pleasure of feeling part of nature, of feeling the heat of the sun, the cold of the night, the breeze ... all without being filtered by anything!

So what does this have to do with a perfect body?

We think these sites are mirrors for textile people, voyeurists or exhibitionists, maybe we're wrong ... but honestly they don't make us want to visit them!

We always have in our eyes what we saw one of our first times in a FKK camp, the Konobe: there was a German woman, mother of 4 children, who in the morning went out to sea with her windsurf, wearing only a cap. And she came back late, for a whilw neglecting her children and her husband: surely she was a woman who knew how to enjoy the pleasure of the sun, the sea and the wind!

And then there were still some echoes of the women's movement, and it seemed right that women could have a moment of peace!

Over the years we have changed, and now we are a little more social, we would no longer accept such solitary images, but rather collective images, of drinking or eating or whatever … to advertise a naturist site: ordinary people enjoying life just as they are.

What I think some promoters fail to remember is not just that naturists don't fall for the whole perfect body idea and realise how much damage that does but that we are already thinking "off the wall" to choose naturism in the first place. Promoting a naturist venue with the same sort of imagery (albeit naked) that they would use in a dressed venue is not recognising that naturists by chosing naturism are already abandoning the rules and narrow minded ideas that advertisers rely on to sell. 

Naturist promotions need to be based on real thoughts and ideas and not the false thoughts and ideas that normal promtions use. In short we are (without wanting to sound arrogant) a little more intelligent than that.  

Nothing arrogant-sounding about that, Anna.  Most advertising/promotion is founded upon the unspoken premise that the promoter is just a little bit smarter than the target audience and many marketing attempts are an insult to the intelligence and/or an appeal to greed, self-pride/ego, instant gratification. It is just a shame that in our modern world, they are so often successful with these tactics. 

I just have a few words to say about this topic. The naturist magazines should predominantly feature  true, genuine naturist leaving the "glamour models" to their own part of the market.  The only problem is that will it sell the magazines? I for one sometimes find the text accompanying the photos of these models so obviously contrived with poses so obviously so fake.

Of course not all naturists want to appear in magazines that can be bought at the local newsagent, especially if they are in a sensitive job.  So all that subscribe to this site, pluck up the courage to put your stories and images out into the public domain and advance the naturist community.

Perhaps a compromise of some sort might work. Instead of using professional models, find genuine naturists who are not in a position of having to fear losing thier jobs, etc, but give them the airbrush and special lighting treatment that the professionals get.  I can imagine myself being on the cover of some publication, then walking up to the Chemist's counter,  having him point to the magazine rack nearby and saying, "You know, we have a cream that would take care of that..."
