This Tuesday a member of ANW posted an image #tushytuesday and this led to another couple of Tushy Tuesday images being shared and the idea that this may become a weekly thing.
Before moving on and just to clarify for those like myself who have never used the word tushy or tush it is a US slang/child friendly term for the buttocks of Jewish origin from Tokhes meaning beneath. Tushy Tuesday is an idea that seems to have been around on various websites/feeds/forums/blogs since 2020 (and maybe beyond - I just did a quick search).
The question Steve and I found ourselves asking was does it work on ANW?
Let me clarify we certainly saw no harm in it and took no offence by it, after all ANW has many thousands of photographs that show members bottoms.
The thing that we found ourselves wondering (and this is maybe a burden we take very seriously as we need to ensure ANW stays on track in promoting naturism - and we are the ones that people come to when they feel something steps into another territory) is why would we emphasise the idea of seeing our bottoms (or any other body parts. Isn't every day a day when we post such images, and is it something that should be flagged up as remarkable?
What can be thought provoking, question making, shocking or attention seeking on general social media sites may feel redundant on ANW. Naturism on ANW is an extraordinary thing but our actually nudity is everyday and unremarkable. To take up hashtags like tushytuesday may even send out the wrong message - bringing attention to body parts rather than casually accepting them. I feel that we would certainly become quite concerned about a willywednesday or wienerwednesday or mammarymonday, but it is true that the bottom is considered by society to be a humorous and safer body part to refer to. Still a little taboo (and recently banned on certain large social media) but much safer. Though isn't that part of the point of naturism? On ANW the bottom, the penis, and the breast are given an equality with the other body parts such as the elbow or the neck. They are not placed in a higher place for shock, humour, exhibitionism or censorship. Yet foreheadfriday would be bizarre!
On the other hand, and this is something else Steve and I take seriously is that we want ANW members to have fun and feel free to enjoy life and naturism on ANW. Our position may make us feel paranoid that ideas like tushytuesday could offend some members who see it as not really naturism or give out the wrong impression about nudity on ANW but also worry that our concern may be overzealous and worried about what is basically a bit of harmless fun (as was intended by those who were involved this Tuesday - so there is certainly no need for anyone to feel that we were upset by their involvement - we definitely saw it for the fun it was meant to be).
Either way we would have to consider the rule within the Terms of Service about not sharing photographs that place the focus on specific body parts. We would not want a collection of images that are close ups on people's bottoms or cross the line from naturism into exhibitionism.
It was with the knowledge that no harm was meant and only fun was intended that we thought let's leave the idea and share it in the Forum for Forum Friday.
We would love to read your views. Harmless fun - yes - but does it work in naturism or one ANW. As long as the photos stay in keeping with ANW's expected images is it fine and dandy, or it it sending out the wrong message that could lead to those new to ANW and naturism being confused about our life choice.
What do you think?
I saw it as an extension of Monochrome Monday, a bit of fun to display images in a different light.
The use of the word Tushey, I must admit was not a word I would normally use and something our friends over pond are more familiar with, but it does seem to work. (Thank you the definition Anna)
I don't think it would do any harm and might even promote more members to put up images as their face may not be shown. Our bottoms are a part of us and also vary in so many ways, so why not celebrate the rear as well.
Another aspect to consider, is the evolution of a new theme putting undue pressure on people to post images? The reasons to post are wide and varied. Some members don’t post much at all, others post sporadically and others again are prolific. While I understand we want to encourage members to participate, some might be hesitant to post images, if at all. Could something that appears to be harmless to some, actually be putting subtle pressure on others in an unhelpful way? Just a though
This could be just a fun thing to do once in a while but I think it needs to stay in that "fun" zone. If you say on this site that backside images are allowed then you might open the floodgates to people sharing more backside pictures and I don't think naturism is people sharing a bunch of backside pictures.
ANW is a brand. A genuine, authentic brand of naturism.
ANW must differentiate itself. This is in its fundamental interest, as it will enable it to communicate in a credible and acceptable manner.
If there are images here with the same or similar themes as elsewhere, the value of the brand will decline. New visitors will think that this site is just like the others. And old members may rightly feel that the content has become stale and that there is no point in returning regularly.
