In this topic I would like you to tell us about your own personal experiences with the clubs you have joined. The good, the bad and the ugly. 

If you have left - tell us why. 

If you are completely hooked tell us why. 

What does your club do right? What does it do wrong? 

Give us the name and location, tell us some facts - how long you you been a member?  Do you have a role in the club? How many members? What sort of events? Is it landed or non-landed?  Do you and others stay over night in tents or something more permanent? Are the members mainly an aging population, or are there plenty of families and new blood? Are there crazy rules? What about single men?

Our time here at Broadlands has made us think once again about how important local clubs are and how they deserve our support. Steve and I ahve been thinking about this for some months now. We have always wanted to support clubs, and the fact that we feel they do not get the acclaim and support they deserve makes us even more passionate about helping. We have some plans that we have been batting about between the two of us for some time and the time we have spent "on tour" during August has allowed us to hone some of these ideas - so watch this space.

We have also heard some great stories at Broadlands that we would like to share with you very soon too.  

In the meantime I would love to hear more about your experiences with clubs and also your thoughts on the other forum topics linked above.  

My wife and I are not, but we go to a local club as guests enough that we probably should join :) I'm not sure why we haven't yet other than that it's not a club that has activities or facilities to enjoy during the winter.  

Our current visit to Manchester Sun and Air is another reminder to us about the vital role clubs play in naturism. A role we think it has become increasingly trendy to ignore in recent years, which in turn will make it tougher for clubs to find new members and continue their role. 

We know that some clubs have let some people down, and their quality may vary. So please chat here about the pros and cons you have found with your club experiences, and this may help the naturist community see the best way forward to ensure clubs continue to supply a much needed service to all of us. 

We are not currently members of any club, mainly due to financial and travel limitations issues. There really is no club close enough for us to make a short trip and be able to play a more involved part in any club. We would want a club for us where we can nip over quickly, spend some time there and return without having to que in long lines of traffic or have to use a motorway.

However, in 2023 we did play a big role in the attempt to launch a new club in Wales, and for most of the year we were deeply involved in the planning and organising of events to recruit new members to establish the brand new club. Sadly those who financed the clubs founding decided to make it a business venture and not a fully registered Naturist society, and so as a result we withdrew from the project, as we were being asked to volunteer our time and service for what had become a business venture.

We were bitterly disappointed that the society never made it off the ground, because we believe there needs to be more clubs and societies within the UK, especially in the area of the North West and Wales. Manchester does have a society, but it is located mainly on the southern boarder of Manchester and is too far in travel times for us to nip over. As much as we would love to play a role within a club or society, in order for it be more accessible for us it would have to be more centrally based within the city.

We have looked at “None Landed Clubs” with a view to maybe setting one up, we know we have the capability and would love to run something that catered to its members via meet ups and get togethers, but currently work constraints and family commitments hinder are free time. It is something we would love to be involved with and would encourage others to consider, because it would again open up naturism to a wider field and enable naturists to meet on much more regular basis. When time permits, it is something we will consider again.
